Ocean City NJ Fishing Bay Report

Fish Tale Charters

Last Thursday I had an Ocean City NJ Fishing charter in the Bay. The weather was great, the fishing was just OK. We pushed off the dock around 9:00am. The idea was to fish the incoming tide. Our lines were in the water for a while before we got our first bite, that Flounder was a small fish too short to put in the box.

We tried different rigs on our Ocean City NJ Fishing Bay trip. The traditional minnow rig caught a couple yet those Flounder were too short to keep. The bucktail rig caught a couple also and those Flounder were too short to keep. It was the the phrase for the day. “ANOTHER SHORT FLOUNDER”.

The bite was slow for today’s Ocean City NJ Fishing trip. It was getting right to the end of the trip and we had caught a half a dozen Small Flounder. I was thinking we may not catch a keeper today. No sooner did that thought go through my mind and we got a good bite. The rod was bent in half and the Flounder was taking out line. The drag was screaming. The net was ready for action. As the Flounder got within eye sight it looked like a nice fish. Every time I was ready to scoop the fish up in the net the Flounder would make a run in the opposite direction. Finally Bob was able to get the Flounder coming in the direction of the net and I was ready to scoop the fish up. We got the fish into the net yet it was a nice battle to get it done.

Our Ocean City NJ Fishing Bay trip last Thursday was slow yet we did put one nice Flounder in the fish box. The Flounder we kept was not as big as I thought it may be yet was a good one. It measured 24″. I forgot to get the weight but the fillets were pretty thick.

We were scheduled to fish on Saturday yet Mother Nature did not work with us. We had to cancel the trip with thunder and lightning and heavy rain at times. The trip is rescheduled for later this month.
