Fish Tale Charters Ocean City NJ Charter Fishing Trips. We are back in the deep freeze again. The outside temperature is 28* right now. This morning when I first got up about 5:30am the temperature was 24*. It is going to be even colder starting tonight. The reports are saying for this area Ocean City NJ, Marmora NJ, Somers Point NJ nighttime low temperatures around 7* and maybe low teens. Daytime highs in the low twenties. It looks like we get a temperature break by Saturday or Sunday. The Spring can’t get here soon enough. At this time of year there is not much if any fishing to be done in this area. All the the Captains I know have boats out of the water. Everybody is staying warm and getting ready to do work on their boats as soon as the temperature is workable. Myself I am staying warm by making some new fishing rigs for the 2019 season. Can’t wait!

Just recently I got an email from ASMFC Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Council that the February Federal meetings have been canceled due to the Government shut down. Even though the Government has reopened for a 3 week period there has not been anything said about rescheduling. At least not that I have heard. It is at these February meetings that each year the regulations are made at the federal level for both the recreational and commercial fishers. From there the numbers are sent down to each state for the individual states to come up with the dates, size limits and bag limits for various species to include Flounder and Black Sea Bass, and Striped Bass etc. Each state has the responsibility to make the numbers work within the federal guidelines. From what I have been told, the longer the meetings are postponed the more chance there is of the regulations to be effected. There was a chance that there was going to be some changes in policy for this year regulations that would have helped in a positive way the recreational angler. Now with what is going on in Washington who knows. I hope that things are resolved soon. I hope that the federal fisheries people get the meetings in soon and they make the right decisions. Let’s Go Fishing, Not Just Wishing.
